Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy is for

This policy explains how the DoingOkay app (“DoingOkay”, “the app”, “we” or “us”) handles information. DoingOkay is operated in the United Kingdom. Privacy questions can be sent to Darren@DoingOkay.co.uk.

DoingOkay does not require a DoingOkay user account and we do not operate a central customer database for your app content.

2. Information you choose to use in the app

Depending on the features you use, DoingOkay may store or process:

  • money information you enter, such as balances, income, bills, budgets, debts and spending plans; the app does not request bank login details, card numbers or direct access to your bank;
  • tasks, routines, meal plans, pantry items, reflections, sleep information and other information you enter;
  • conversations with Ava, saved conversation history and information you explicitly ask Ava to remember;
  • Calendar information, including event titles, dates, times and event locations, when you grant Calendar permission;
  • locations and approximate or precise coordinates when you grant Location permission or save a Companion Place;
  • photos you select and photos shown from an album you choose for slideshow or personalisation features; and
  • step counts and body-mass information read from Apple HealthKit when you grant Health permission, together with goals you enter in the app.

3. Where your information is stored

App information is stored locally on your Apple device. If iCloud is available, DoingOkay uses Apple CloudKit to synchronise and back up app information in the private iCloud space associated with your Apple Account. This can include the app areas you use, such as Money, Food, Tasks, health information, preferences and saved app content.

Apple provides and controls iCloud and CloudKit. Their handling of information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

4. Ava Chat and OpenAI

Ava Chat is an optional AI feature. When it is enabled and you send a message, the app sends it through DoingOkay’s protected server connection to OpenAI so that a response can be produced. The information sent can include:

  • your current message and recent Ava Chat messages;
  • memories you have asked Ava to keep;
  • selected summaries from DoingOkay that are relevant to the conversation, which may include money, tasks, food, steps, sleep, health activity, reflections and Ava’s current state;
  • an approximate place name or a saved Companion Place and recent check-in when location context is relevant; raw coordinates are not included in the Ava Chat prompt; and
  • technical request information needed to use OpenAI’s service.

DoingOkay uses Apple App Attest to check that AI requests come from a genuine installation of the app. Our security database stores an attested device-key identifier, cryptographic replay counter, request totals and timestamps. It does not store Ava Chat messages, prompts or AI responses.

Do not enter information into Ava Chat that you do not want processed by an AI provider. AI responses may be inaccurate. OpenAI acts as an independent service provider and handles submitted information under its own terms and privacy policy. You can disable the OpenAI connection in DoingOkay’s settings.

5. Apple permissions and services

Calendar

With permission, DoingOkay can read Calendar events needed for work planning and appointment-based support. If an event contains an address, the app may use Apple’s geocoding services to find its location. A Calendar address does not start location support by itself: you choose whether Ava should come along. The app may add an event only when you use a feature that asks it to do so.

Location and Apple Maps

With permission, DoingOkay uses Apple location and mapping services to show your current area, let you select saved Companion Places and recognise arrival or departure. Background location may be used for Companion Place support where you enable it. You control the saved places and can remove them.

Photos

With permission, DoingOkay can display photos from an album you choose and import photos you select for app features. DoingOkay does not upload your full photo library to us.

HealthKit

With permission, DoingOkay reads step count and body-mass data from Apple Health. It does not write health data back to HealthKit in the current version and does not use HealthKit information for advertising. Health information may be included in your private app backup and may be summarised for Ava Chat when relevant, as described above.

6. Why information is used

DoingOkay uses information only to provide features you choose, including:

  • showing and organising your own app content;
  • synchronising and restoring information through iCloud;
  • personalising Ava’s in-app support and AI conversation;
  • providing location-aware support you configure;
  • showing Calendar, Photos and Health information you permit; and
  • responding when you contact support.

We do not sell your personal information and do not use your app content for third-party advertising.

7. Your choices and control

  • Change Calendar, Location, Photos and Health permissions at any time in Apple Settings.
  • Disable the OpenAI connection inside DoingOkay.
  • Delete individual chats, saved memories, Companion Places and other content using the controls provided in the app.
  • Use DoingOkay’s backup and reset controls to manage local or iCloud-backed app information.
  • Deleting the app removes its local information from that device, but may not remove information already stored in iCloud.

Because DoingOkay has no user accounts or central user-content database, we normally cannot identify or directly erase content held only on your device, in your Apple iCloud account or by OpenAI. Contact us if you need help finding the relevant controls.

8. Retention and security

Local and iCloud-backed app information remains until you delete it, reset an app area or remove the relevant iCloud data. DoingOkay retains limited App Attest and daily usage records for security, replay protection and cost control. It does not retain chat content on its server. Information submitted to OpenAI is handled according to DoingOkay’s API configuration and OpenAI’s policies.

We design DoingOkay to minimise unnecessary transfers and rely on Apple’s device and iCloud protections. No system can guarantee absolute security, so keep your Apple Account and device access protected.

9. Children

DoingOkay is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support message, contact us so we can address it.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as DoingOkay changes. The effective date at the top will show when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
